Project #2: The Practitioner’s Laboratory (2017)
Brand: Bella Body Pilates & Barre (Weebly Framework)
Role: Founder & Digital Architect
The Challenge: Translating Transformation into Authority
Fresh off a personal 70lb health transformation and a series of high-level certifications, I set out to build a digital home for my own studio vision. At the time, I had the "Movement Expertise," but the "Digital Engine" was still in its experimental phase. I needed a platform that could house the complexity of my journey—from weight loss to wellness education.
The Process: The 6-Month Build
Without a DBM to guide me, I took the "Hard Road" of self-education. I spent six months architecting a 6-page ecosystem that included:
The Narrative Heart: I wrote extensively about the cross-training benefits of Pilates and Barre, sharing my personal 60-day challenge victory and testimony that eventually caught the attention of national fitness brands.
The Educational Brain: I built a comprehensive archive of food and fitness education, recipes, and a blog specifically tailored to women over 40.
The Technical Struggle: I experienced the "Voice Gap" firsthand. After a frustrating experience with external "experts" who didn't understand my vision, I took over the HTML and SEO, titling myself.
The Lesson: Presence vs. Performance
I was proud of what I created, but this project was my greatest teacher. I realized that Presence is not the same as Authority. While the site was a beautiful archive of my knowledge, it lacked the strategic "Backbone" needed to generate leads. It was the "Frankenstein" era—lots of great parts, but they weren't yet an integrated engine.
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference. Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.
